No new photos or adventures to report on, except this one: Wake up, eat, edit, edit, edit, edit, edit, input changes, edit, edit, argue with dictionary, edit, eat, edit, go to sleep 14 hours later. Repeat for 10 days.

Not. Even. Joking.

Tara and Jon’s haul:
Record player, basketball (for Chad), four CDs (Tears for Fears, Backstreet Boys, a Crystal Gayle Christmas album and a “various artists” Christmas album), Roy Orbison record, plastic popcorn bowl, wooden stereo speaker stands (for Jon’s stereo in the downstairs den), a slightly dirty-minded cross-stitch (featuring a goose in the shower…), a giant photo of a pink kitty, three VHS movies including Heathers, an old Star Weekly, a handful of earrings from the 1980s, a frowny face button, a grab bag of books for $1 (including torrid romances, horrifying meat cookbooks from the 1950s [one with a chapter titled BRAINS, GIZZARDS!] and other handy titles) and two beautiful kitchen chairs. Some of these items may turn into Christmas gifts, so look out.
Melissa’s haul:
A plush ET toy (for Stephen), framed reflective pony picture (for Laura), lady mug (for Paul), confusing mug with the silhouette of a pregnant man on it featuring a saying that goes something like “The best lovers stay on top of things” (for Mark), a $1 transistor radio (purchased mainly for looks, but it works!), geese-themed measuring cups and napkin holder, an owl mug, the game “Trouble,” various vintage ladies magazines, Raiders of the Lost Ark magazines, various vintage paperbacks including a James Bond novel and a romance called When Sex Walks In, a set of gold picture frames, ceramic dog and bunny figurines, kitty cat potholders, puppy wall hangings and Gizmo from Gremlins.
(Not shown: a brand-new movie projector screen, purchased for $5.)
Best find of the day?
Those kitty cat potholders are definite winners!

We made a lot of friends with animals along the way, including some sheep and horses that we waved to from the car. (They knew it was us; Melissa and I waved at them last year too.)
Mostly we saw dogs. Big dogs, little dogs, loud dogs, quiet dogs. All adorable and friendly.
This is Waldo, our little one-eyed buddy.
And we also met a cat named Boo!
Would you believe me if I said we saw a pod of killer whales?
What about a couple of monkeys?
(Extra special thanks to Melissa, who took all of these animal photos and a lot for the preceding yard sale entries too!)

Look, I found all my earrings from 1985!
And Melissa found our little space travelling friend from 1982!
I found a stylish way to keep the mosquitoes off me!
Melissa found the perfect gift for one of her gentleman friends!
I also found the perfect gift for one of my gentleman friends!
Yes, those are genuine “never worn” Man-T-Hose with the original (ahem) package.
We found a kitty without a soul! Too terrifying to take home!
We found a ratty-looking bird inside a pop bottle cage! (In the background you can sort of see Jon testing out the soon-to-be-his $5 record player.)
Follow the rainbow for more treasures!

Friday night. An out of town big city guest. What to do?
That’s right. Take her to Chow Family, home of Truro’s (and possibly the world’s) only surviving tiki room.
Melissa was suitably impressed by the authentic tiki decor.
Naturally we had to sample The Volcano. It’s not every day you get to drink something that is on fire, and with three of us to split the hefty price, we figured even if it was terrible it would be worth it.
When we asked our server what exactly goes into The Volcano, she replied, “A bunch of liquor.”
A drink! With fire! For sharing! Jon and Melissa tried a little…
…and doesn’t it look like they’re enjoying the taste of “a bunch of liquor”?
For the record, it tasted like cheap gin, hairspray, cough medicine and Lik-M-Aid (also known as Fun Dip, an envelope of powdered candy).
And eventually we had to resort to using forks to eat the last dregs from the bowl.
